Blog entry #2 Holiday count down!
As the season begins to change the holidays come up. More than half the world will say they like Christmas, some Halloween or even Thanksgiving. For me I wait year round for it to be Halloween. There are many reasons behind this and the weather being one reason. The month of October is my favorite time of year. From where I live it’s about a 2 hour drive to see orange leaves falling from the trees and that is considered a very happy place of mine. The pumpkin patch opens and that is always a fun family outing. There are specific reasons people like holidays and everyone is different
I enjoy when thanksgiving comes around because I have such a large family so when the holidays come up I get to see everyone. Thanksgiving is also a great holiday for me because I am personally a big fan of honey baked ham. Thanksgiving gives off the feeling of everyone being cheerful for what they have and I think that’s also another good reason I like it so much.
So I guess the last thing to ask is what is everyone else’s favorite holiday or time of year? Do we have the same reasons for the same holidays?
I like all three of the big holidays, but I would have to say Halloween is my favorite. Most holidays hold a significance based on family, religion, national pride, or culture in a positive manner. And yes, I know Halloween is based on a superstitious tradition, but it sticks out to me because it is a holiday purely for the fun of it. It also celebrates all things mischievous and scary, which is unique to other holidays. I also like that it encourages dressing up in costume as it is a fun way to express your interests or personality by what you decide to dress up as.
ReplyDeleteHolidays are always something to look forward to especially living in arizona since the weather becomes a lot more enjoyable. It's nice to see that someone enjoys Halloween so much since its the time of year where the weather changes so much. Saying that the change of leaves is a happy place is a perfect description of how it feels when the environment starts to change.
ReplyDeleteMy favorite time of year is around Halloween. It seems like everyone is friendly and atmosphere is just great. The weather cools down also. Maybe in the summer people are annoyed by the hot weather and it's less enjoyable to go outside. My favorite thing to do is step on the leaves while I am walking. I don't what it is ,but hearing that crunch is just satisfying to me.
ReplyDeleteMy kids are fans of Halloween for very similar reasons! The change in weather and scenery, the pumpkin patches and then obviously trick or treating. Personally I've always been a fan of the Christmas season. It always feels like such a peaceful time of the year and with the new year around the corner, there's the feeling of a fresh start if one is needed.

I love the holiday season and I can agree that Halloween is great but i would argue that Christmas is better. The fall doesn't change much here in Arizona, its just a slightly colder summer. Winter is bliss, perfect temperatures the crisp air, the shorter days, fall has all of that but winter is more exaggerated. Halloween vs Christmas is a different story, I think Halloween is great with friends but Christmas is a great time with family.
